PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To ensure that Armscor operations are conducted in a manner not to harm the environment and in compliance with applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Essential: Grade 12
  • Essential: Relevant B. Tech. / BSc (Engineering, Health, Safety or Environmental)

TECHNICAL / LEGAL CERTIFICATION / PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATION

  • Essential: Registered SHE Auditor
  • Essential: Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA)
  • Essential: SHE Legislation and Regulations (i.e. NEMA & OHSACT)

EXPERIENCE:

  • Essential: 4-7 years’ experience.

CRITICAL PERFORMANCE AREAS:

The incumbent will be responsible to perform the following functions but not limited to;

  • Undertake professional development activities, sufficient to maintain and extend competence in specified areas (environment).
  • Participate in the development of the annual Corporate SHE Audit Plan
  • Perform SHE audits in accordance with the Corporate SHE Audit Plan and against the SHE criteria.
  • Consult with the relevant government departments for advice, guidance and confirmation, on SHE issues to ensure compliance.
  • Provide business units with relevant regulations and legislation, as well as all changes and developments, which should be addressed in their business operations and provide training as and when required.  
  • Provide and coordinate SHE awareness campaigns to ensure that employees are informed on SHE issues.
  • Perform SHE inspections and investigations and report findings and recommendations to Management.  Ensure the loop is closed on non-compliances by verification of corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain necessary practices and procedures in area of responsibility.
  • Participates in the development of a Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) process.
  • Conduct annual reviews to assess and evaluate the completeness and adequacy of the HIRA Register.
  • Participates on SHE Committee meetings
  • Conducts SHE incident investigations to determine root causes.
