CRITICAL PEROFORMANCE AREA

The incumbent will be responsible to perform the following functions but not limited to;

  • Set-up tables in accordance with restaurant requirements and standard.
  • Serving of food and beverages to clients in a most professional manner.
  • Transport soiled dishes from dining areas to kitchen and depositing them in proper placing bins.
  • Be well versed with the menu and accompaniments as to be able to respond to client queries.
  • Monitor stock levels and request stock, cutlery and crockery and equipment to perform tasks that are required in the dining area.
  • Ensure that restaurant booking sheet is completed and questionnaire form is signed by each client/customers
  • Ensure that the kitchen, equipment, store rooms and change room are properly cleaned as per HACCP, Food Safety Act and SHEQ requirements

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To assist skilled Chief Handyman/Artisan/Supervisor or Section Manager with a variety of maintenance and activities to ensure that facilities, vehicles, machines, tools and materials are ready for use in order to meet the division objectives.

CRITICAL PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

  • Assist a qualified artisan with the installation and maintenance of equipment such as domestic, industrial appliances and machinery or vehicle.
  • Tasked to do any other basic function when required within general scope of the role and functions of the section.
  • Perform all general cleaning of workshop, mess, and ablution and office areas by routinely sweeping, mopping and polishing areas and furniture.
  • Removal of all waste.
  • Performing yard cleaning of work areas by pulling out weeds and cutting grass, picking up litter.
  • Assisting artisans/supervisors with building maintenance such as roof, gutter and window cleaning. 
  • Perform general maintenance of facilities such as paint work as guided and instructed by a superior.
  • Scaling, stripping, painting of equipment as instructed.
  • Provide good housekeeping in the workshops, stores and facilities.
  • Transport variety of tools, equipment and supplies safely to the job site to enable work to progress efficiently.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To provide an efficient and effective wooden and epoxy patternmaking service capability by constructing patterns that are used to manufacture a wide range of castings for the ships/ vessels and various shore establishments.

CRITICAL PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

  • Implement tasks as assigned by supervisor in line with estimated timelines.
    • Interpret job card requirements and identify all required resources to perform a job.
    • Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety regulations and initiate appropriate actions and rectify any unsafe activities.
    • Conduct risk assessments and mitigate any identified risks.
    • Execute the job adhering to all instructions, procedures, policies and regulations and stay within time and cost constraints.
    • Produce drawings and sketches for the manufacturing of required patterns.
    • Read and interpret blueprints or drawings of patterns to be manufactured or parts to be cast to determine material and equipment setup requirements.
    • Manufacture wooden and epoxy patterns from drawings and models/ samples.
    • Operate a variety of equipment and set equipment controls to meet cutting specifications.
    • Complete and maintain all applicable records.
    • Liaise with, support and assist superiors, project managers and other sections to ensure optimum completion of jobs by the Dockyard.

EXPERIENCE

  • Applying preferential procurement principles (BEE).
  • Observing and applying PFMA stipulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • National Diploma (Supply Chain Management /Procurement), CIPS Level 4 Diploma   

or equivalent.

  • Registration with supply chain professional body will be an added advantage

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience buying/procurement role.

  • Consult with Section Manager in the procurement of chemicals, consumables and analytical instrumentation needed by the Condition Based Maintenance Section.
  • Analyse organic and inorganic matter and compile reports according to quality requirements.
  • Carry out all adhoc requirements required by the laboratory areas, the Chemistry Manager and the Divisional Manager timeously, efficiently and with the required accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Undertake all coating failure investigations both in the field and in the laboratory to provide current and future solutions.
  • Perform all activities with due consideration to biological, mechanical and chemical safety requirements.
  • Manage safe storage of all hazardous chemicals inside the laboratories and Chemical Store.
  • Be responsible for the administration of incoming and out-going samples and sample request sheets.
  • Assist with reviews of written Procedures, Work Instructions and Laboratory Accreditation related to the Chemistry Section.
  • Ensure Continuous professional development by doing research/literature self-study on engineering technologies and attend work related and accredited courses to improve expertise.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry
  • Registration with SACNASP or relevant body will be an added advantage. 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Three (3) years post qualification experience in a Chemistry environment.
