Submarine warfare requires sophisticated systems that blend stealth with survivability. IMT’s NSSS domain advances technologies for underwater vehicles, torpedoes, decoys, and communication systems. Research in this area supports the South African Navy in strengthening core submarine capabilities, while also expanding maritime domain awareness.

Our work spans weapons modelling, countermeasure tactics, submarine escape and rescue systems, and remotely operated vehicle technologies. By combining advanced modelling with applied engineering, NSSS provides practical solutions that improve both combat performance and crew safety.
