Biomechanics

Biomechanics

Using motion analysis (including in-vehicle assessments) and strength databases aligned to SANDF roles, we develop ergonomics criteria (e.g., for combat boots), simulate lower-leg stress/strain via finite-element models, and feed results into design updates and training.

Methods & tools

Portable motion capture (Xsens Awinda) for field and vehicle studies.
Strength profiling and gold-standard body-composition assessment (BODPOD).
Finite-element modelling of the lower limb for impact scenarios.
What you get

Workload limits, risk-reduction plans, equipment recommendations, boot/armour criteria, and validation reports for procurement.

Where it applies

Infantry tasks, vehicle operations, load carriage, footwear and armour evaluation.
