ABOUT THE JOB:
The role of incumbent is to independently lead medium complex projects to provide expert systems and technology support to the SA Navy and other clients.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Essential: Grade12
- Essential: B-Tech or Advanced National Diploma in Information Technology or equivalent.
- Added advantage: M-Tech in Information Technology or equivalent will be an
- Added advantage: SACNASP registration
- Essential: 4-5 years’ experience in software development (with emphasis on Database Development)
- Essential: Experience in Microsoft .NET software development environment
- Essential: Experience in Microsoft SQL Server database development environment
- Added advantage: Python programming experience will be an advantage
CRITICAL PERFORMANCE AREAS
The incumbent will be responsible to perform the following functions but not limited to;
- To design and develop computer models in order to simulate and to interpret results and to perform mathematical verification.
- Undertake research and make recommendations in area of responsibility.
- To provide software design tasks of a medium complex nature.
- To lead project teams consisting of multiple specialists and support personnel.
- To identify opportunities for project management process improvement.
- To define, investigate and analyse medium complex scientific problems, and develop cost effective solutions to the identified problems.
- To write scientific reports specifying raw data as well as interpretation of results.
- Execution of sub system and system tests (hardware / software) and document test results.
- Interpret measured results and propose actions and recommendations.
- Be responsible for making medium complex scientific decisions as part of scientific activities.
- Comprehend and apply knowledge of the widely applied principles underpinning good scientific practice and specialist knowledge.
- Provide consultancy advice to internal and external stakeholders on scientific activities.
KNOWLEDGE & FUNCTIONAL SKILLS:
- Advanced knowledge of Database Development principles
- Advanced knowledge of applicable software packages (.NET).
- Advanced knowledge of applicable software packages (Microsoft SQL Server).
- Software design knowledge.
