ABOUT THE JOB:
Senior Technical Officer holds the responsibility to ensure provision of a serviceable weapon system for testing and responsible for the execution of weapon operation.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Grade 12 – Technical
- Driver’s license – Code C1
- National Technical Certificate (at least NTC6)
- Maps & Navigation
- 4 – 5 years’ experience in weapon systems
CRITICAL PERFORMANCE AREA
The incumbent will be responsible to perform the following functions but not limited to;
- To ensure that the MOU and six monthly inspection are prepared according to client requirements.
- To ensure that the foreign client weapon systems are prepared for tests.
- Assist the weapon technician with first and second line repair tasks.
- Safe operation of infantry, artillery and armour weapon systems according to Alkantpan procedures and client’s Standard Operating Procedures.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks according to procedures.
- To ensure safety and security of all weapons.
- The preparation, release and operation of weapons according to test requirement.
- Supervise the preparation and maintenance of targets according to test requirements.
- Supervise the test team (technical officers) during the preparation, operation and after fire routine/mop-up of weapons and targets.
- Act as mentor for junior personnel (technical officers and assistants)
- Escort weapon systems during import and export to and from port of entry.
- Render any other related duties
KNOWLEDGE & FUNCTIONAL SKILLS:
- Knowledge of the management systems (e.g. SHE, Quality, etc.)
- Knowledge of weapons (infantry and/or armour, and/or artillery)
