Armscor places major importance on BEE as part of Government’s national agenda.  It has a specialised division created to guide the organisation on how to best implement the BEE policy and achieve set targets.

Central to Armscor’s strategic focus is the ability of the majority of South Africa to participate effectively in the mainstream economy, and in the defence industry specifically.

Armscor has a BEE practice which supports Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) strategies.

BBBEE is defined by the Act as the economic empowerment of all black people including women, workers, youth, people with disabilities and people living in rural areas through diverse but integrated socio-economic strategies that include:-

1. Increasing the number of black people who manage, own and control enterprises and productive assets;
2. Facilitating ownership and management of enterprises and productive assets by communities, workers, co-operatives and other collective enterprises;
3. Human resource and skills development;
4. Achieving equitable representation in all occupational categories and levels in the workforce;
5. Preferential procurement;
6. Investment in enterprises that are owned or managed by black people.

BEE SUPPORT PROGRAMMES

1. Mandatory subcontracting to BEE suppliers
2. Facilitation of joint ventures
3. Early payment cycle
4. Pre-tender and post-award debriefing sessions

Armscor would like to see more BEE suppliers participating in Landward, Maritime and Aeronautics Systems.
