TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT AND ANALYSIS:

Manages technology programmes in various areas to develop and maintain capabilities in South Africa, which would support the new and changing demands of the South African National Defence Force.

MANAGEMENT OF TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMES INCLUDES:
Electronics Technology • provides ready technology base in order to provide scientific and engineering advice and technological solutions.

Aerospace Technology • develops an All Weather Air Defence Missile (AWADM) demonstrator to expand and prove the technology capabilities.

Maritime Technology • provides SA Navy with scientific and engineering support services.

Support Technology • develops and maintains sustainable capability for the provision of technomilitary expertise.

Landwards Technology • provides the SANDF with scientific and engineering advice and technological solutions aimed at providing engineering knowledge to improve weapon systems.

The TMA division is responsible for Technology Management and Analysis, and therefore it manages technology programmes in various areas to develop and maintain capabilities in the RSA, which would support the new and changing demands of the SANDF. These programmes are conducted in South African defence industries and institutes, at defence evaluation research institutes (DERI), and at tertiary education institutes (universities).

MISSION CONTROL TRAINING SIMULATOR CONCEPT DEMONSTRATOR

 

NON CO-OPERATIVE TARGET CLASSIFICATION

A facility has been developed as part of the radar research at the CSIR into non co-operative target classification.

 

OPTRONIC WIDE AREA SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM:

A system has been developed which allows for wide angle surveillance in the visual and infra-red band.

TMA has embarked on a demonstrator program with Denel Dynamics to develop the technology building blocks and to reduce technical risk for the development of an all-weather air defense missile.landwards and maritime applications.
